We interviewed Brittany Parker, one of MPG’s cybersecurity experts. In this blog, you’ll hear how Brittany got started working in security and what she likes most about MPG.
Walk us through your background. How did you get started working in technology/security?
I started off working for the Department of Defense, where my role was involved in special projects. While I was working with the DoD, I realized how much training there was around cybersecurity. Through this training, my interest in cybersecurity grew. I wanted to shift my career to be focused on security because I like to learn new things and be challenged. Fast forward a few years, and I looked into working at MPG. It has always been important for me to work for a company that cares about employees and about customers. MPG they passed with flying colors, and I’ve been here ever since.
Describe your current role, and walk us through the typical day.
Being a part of the Shared Services team, I typically work on multiple projects at once. My day to day always changes, and I love that I am always working on something new. On my current project, I manage customer success where I am the single point of contact for the customer. This means I ensure that the customer gets the deliverables on time, manage status meetings, and overall ensure the customer’s happiness.
What are the biggest challenges you face in a day?
My biggest challenge is prioritizing tasks while also staying engaged. When you work on multiple projects at one time, you really learn to have strong time management skills. I am able to find out any potential issues early on so that we can block that issue before it even arises.
What is your favorite part of your job?
My favorite part of my job is the people that I work with. My team is one big family, and we’re always willing to drop everything to help one another. I enjoy what I do, love the people I work with every day, so I feel really lucky!
Why do you love cybersecurity?
I love cybersecurity because it is always new and exciting. It is one of the most important aspects of our lives, personally and professionally. I love helping others, and I feel like cyber is an industry where you never feel like you have it all figured out.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I am extremely family-oriented, so anything that involves me spending time with my family. I also love to travel and explore different cultures — especially their food. I am going to Turks and Caicos soon, and I am very excited for this trip!
Last book you read and/or tv show you binged?
I watch Friends every single day! It never gets old!
What is your favorite part of MindPoint Group?
The people make this place so wonderful. Everyone is so kind, appreciative, and helpful. I feel MPG is a company that cares so much about their customers and employees.
